Creation

Night lay on the water
Nothing had a name
Then a word like sunrise
Broke the dark in two

Waters found a shoreline
Sky was drawn up high
Dry land took a footing
Green reached toward the sky

It was good
It was good
Light on the water
Where the darkness stood
It was good
It was good
Evening and morning
In the way he would
Call it good

Sun to hold the daytime
Moon to hold the night
Stars to mark the seasons
Little lamps of light

Fish beneath the surface
Birds upon the air
Beasts across the grassland
Living everywhere

It was good
It was good
Light on the water
Where the darkness stood
It was good
It was good
Evening and morning
In the way he would
Call it good

Day by day he shaped it
Never in a rush
Everything had a place
Everything was loved

Evening and morning
It was good
